Potrivit nintendolife.com, Dark Scrolls este dezvoltat de Doinksoft, creatorii jocurilor Gato Roboto și Gunbrella, și publicat de Devolver Digital.

Dark Scrolls este un 'dungeon scroller', care combină elemente de roguelike generate procedural și jocuri de tip shmup.
